Ancient Bronze Archaic Kouros Figure

An important Archaic-period bronze statuette with an antique patina depicting a nude male figure in the tradition of the earliest Mediterranean kouros.

The frontal rendering of the body, the arms joined along the torso, the hieratic rigidity of the posture, and the stylization of the face and hairstyle are reminiscent of archaic Greco-Etruscan votive bronzes inspired by the early canons of ancient sculpture.

The piece exhibits remarkable casting quality as well as a particularly substantial weight for its size (approximately 2 kg), suggesting it was cast as a solid piece. It features a very beautiful antique patina with natural traces of oxidation and wear consistent with its age. The style evokes archaic Greek, Italic, or Etruscan works from the 6th to the 5th century BCE, though a definitive attribution cannot be confirmed at this stage.

An antique collector’s piece awaiting appraisal. Dimensions: • Height: 20 cm • Weight: approximately 2 kg

A beautiful addition to a cabinet of curiosities, an archaeological collection, or a collection of ancient art.
