Period: 1st century BC – 1st century AD. Origin: Gallo-Roman world. Provenance: Former private collection in southern France, by inheritance, acquired before 1970. Fragmentary terracotta votive head representing a stylized female face, preserved with its neck section. The face is rendered in a simplified manner: straight nose, thin incised mouth, barely defined eyes. The hair is suggested by two smooth masses separated by a central parting. The inside of the neck is hollowed out, using a technique characteristic of ancient molded productions.
