Bořek šípek For Driade – “perigot” Vase In Red And Clear Blown Glass – 1990s
A striking “Perigot” vase designed by Czech designer and architect Bořek Šípek for the Italian company Driade.
Crafted from ruby-red and clear blown glass, this imposing composition extends along a vertical axis formed by two long, twisted conical sections, joined at the center by a richly crafted spherical element made of clear glass.
The contrast between the deep red of the glass, its transparency, and the particularly elaborate craftsmanship of the central element gives the piece a strong sculptural presence.
Standing 71 cm tall with its very slender silhouette, the Perigot model is a particularly fine example of Bořek Šípek’s decorative style, blending traditional glassworking techniques, reinterpreted Baroque forms, and postmodern design.
An important piece of late 20th-century European decorative design, it can be displayed as both a vase and a true glass sculpture.
