Uniform Of A Royal Artillery Staff Officer From World War I
A British Royal Artillery staff officer's uniform set (jacket and trousers) dating from World War I. The jacket, of fine workmanship, features lieutenant's rank braids on the sleeve facings; it is adorned on the left sleeve with a single wound bar as well as a removable staff officer’s armband featuring an embroidered motif of a field gun in the center. The right sleeve features four overseas service chevrons, including a red one corresponding to the year 1914. The cuffs of both sleeves are reinforced with light beige goatskin. The ensemble includes ten regimental brass buttons as well as a pair of bronze collar insignia depicting a flaming grenade with the motto “UBIQUE.” Four decoration ribbons are sewn onto the left chest: the Military Cross, the 1914 Star, the War Medal, and the Victory Medal with oak leaf (awarded for mention in dispatches). The jacket is accompanied by its matching uniform trousers. The set shows some signs of wear from service and slight moth damage in places, but remains in good overall condition.
