The King's Flag And The Midlothian British Volunteers Regiment
An extremely rare pair of Georgian-era flags: the King’s Standard and the regimental standard of the 2nd Midlothian Volunteer Regiment (Eastern Regiment). Both are very fragile and are held together by a conservation net, likely installed around the turn of the 20th century. Each flag bears a painted regimental emblem in its center. They are mounted on their original poles, adorned with brass finials and tasseled cords. The larger one measures 156 cm by 183 cm, with a pole measuring 286 cm; the second measures 160 cm by 164 cm, with a pole measuring 287 cm. They come from Penicuick House in Midlothian. Circa 1803.
