Baccarat, France, set of 60 cut-crystal glasses, Richelieu pattern

A large set of mouth-blown and cut crystal stemware by the Baccarat manufactory, Richelieu pattern.
Clear crystal, thick and resonant, its band of graduated wheel-cut olive and pointed facets forming a lattice that catches the light and shows to full effect on a candlelit table.
The condition is remarkable for a set of this age: no white haze, and only three defects, all shown in the photographs. The set is offered as a whole but may be divided by type of glass.

Baccarat manufactory, so-called Richelieu pattern, unmarked glasses. Mouth-blown and cut crystal, made before 1936, that is, before the acid-etched mark was systematically applied.

The set comprises sixty pieces in seven types: twelve water glasses, twelve red wine glasses, eleven white wine glasses, seven port or Madeira glasses, three liqueur glasses, five champagne flutes and ten champagne coupes.

Clear crystal of great purity, thick and resonant. The bowls have a plain upper section above a band of graduated wheel-cut olive and pointed facets. The clarity is perfect, free of the irreversible etching and clouding that affect the great majority of antique sets put through a dishwasher. These glasses have clearly seen little use, reserved for special occasions and then kept in a china cabinet.
The three defects in detail: one water glass with a chip to the foot, one flute with a small chip to the rim, and a second flute with a flake to the edge of the foot. The other fifty-seven pieces are free of defects. Hand washing recommended.

The set may be divided by type: water, red wine, white wine, port and liqueur glasses, flutes or coupes, each sold separately. Please contact us for any partial lot.
