France, Louis XIV period, circa 1700 for the marquetry panel - Blackened pearwood, amaranth veneer, red tortoiseshell, brass, copper fillets, gilded bronzes and black marble.This creation is characteristic of the production of Hippolyte-Edme Pretot, Parisian cabinetmaker of the Napoleon III period, who reused 17th century panels to integrate them into structures imitating the models of the Grand Siècle then very fashionable.
Cabinets with support height decorated with reused panels or imitation Boulle marquetry, carved ebony or inlaid hard stones thus came out of his workshops. Stamped PRETOT, numbered 248V
