Louis XV Style Cabinet In Marquetry And Gilded Bronze From The 19th Century,
Artist: Attribuable à Henry Dason (1825-1896)
Remarkable Louis XV style cabinet attributed to Henri Dasson. Superb cabinet veneered in violetwood and rosewood, richly adorned with finely chased gilt bronze mounts, attributed to Henri Dasson (1825-1896), one of the greatest Parisian cabinetmakers and bronze workers of the second half of the 19th century. This display cabinet, with its curved form, opens to a drawer in the frieze that serves as a writing surface, and rests on cabriole legs with gilt bronze mounts and sabots. The upper section, which also opens, reveals three interior shelves bordered by a refined gilt bronze surround. A work of great Rococo elegance, entirely inlaid with precious woods arranged in a swirling pattern, curved and marquetry-decorated on all sides, allowing for a freestanding display. The finely chased gilt bronze mounts attest to the remarkable quality of execution characteristic of Henri Dasson's work: mascarons, acanthus scrolls, shells, and foliage motifs elegantly adorn the entire piece. Parisian production, circa 1880-1890, in the style of B.V.R.B. and Cressent. Excellent condition, with a restored French polish finish. A collector's piece of rare distinction, perfect for a refined interior or a gallery dedicated to the great masters of 19th-century French furniture.
