"A Louis XV Period Slant-front Desk In Rosewood And Gilt Bronze "
A very elegant Louis XV period slant-front desk in rosewood and gilt bronze. This very elegant Louis XV period slant-front desk, crafted from rosewood finely inlaid with geometric marquetry, opens with a curved drop-front revealing a refined interior with arched drawers, compartments, and dividers. The interior top is lined with green leather tooled in gold, blending harmoniously with the overall design. The front features two upper drawers and a wide drawer in the frieze, all highlighted by meticulous marquetry in warm, nuanced tones. The entire piece is richly adorned with original, finely chased gilt bronze mounts: keyhole escutcheons, drawer pulls, corner mounts with foliate decoration, and elegant sabots, characteristic of the Louis XV style. The cabriole legs, slender and well-proportioned, lend this desk all the grace and lightness typical of Parisian furniture from the mid-18th century. Beautifully finished with a French polish, remarkably highlighting the depth and richness of the rosewood. French work, Louis XV period, circa 1750–1760. Excellent condition, ready to display. A highly elegant piece of furniture, as decorative as it is functional, ideal for a classic interior or a collector's cabinet.
