Elegant Transition style chest of drawers in marquetry and gilt bronze - 19th century Superb Transition style chest of drawers, from the 19th century, elegantly combining the balance of the Louis XV style and the geometric rigor of the Louis XVI style. The piece of furniture features rich marquetry of rosewood and violet wood veneer arranged in a frieze, highlighted by discreet threadwork. It opens with three drawers on the front framed by canted uprights, adorned with finely chiseled gilt bronze falls decorated with acanthus leaves, garlands and stylized muzzles. The gilt bronze pull handles and keyholes are original, elegantly crafted, typical of the ornamental repertoire of the late 18th century. The top is topped with a superb red veined breccia marble (probably Brèche Médicis), with a molded groove and softened cutouts at the corners. High-quality French work dating from the second half of the 19th century, made in the spirit of 18th-century Parisian cabinetmakers, such as Jean-François Leleu or Jean-Henri Riesener.
