This small and elegant chest of drawers was made in Genoa, northernItaly, around the middle of the eighteenth century. This model of dresseris inspired by the models that spread in France in the Louis XV period and towhich all the cabinet makers were immediately inspired. It consists offour drawers, of which two smaller upper. It has a wooden structureentirely lacquered in light ochre decorated with floral and foliateddecorations and compositions of still life of fruit in shades of red. Thehandles and mouthpieces of the locks are in finely chiselled burnished bronze, typical of the Louis XV era. The moulded top is in Rosso Francia marble, amarble from abroad that at the time was very precious and expensive. Thedresser has the front and the sides moved by the move line, legs thin andslightly curved. The front legs are embellished with burnished bronzechiselled tips shaped like acanthus leaf. This piece of furnitureis quite rare because of its small size that make it easy to fit into anyenvironment. Very decorative due to its sinuous lines and its finedecoration, it is suitable both next to antique furniture and combined withmodern furniture and objects.

The chest of drawers is published in: Edi Baccheschi (ed.), Mobili genovesi, Görlich, Milan 1962.
