Louis XV Period Commode
A rosewood and palisander marquetry commode with a curved front, opening with three drawers in two rows. Known as a "sauteuse" (a type of commode) due to its modest dimensions and tall legs, the veneer is laid in a frieze pattern, and the rounded uprights terminate in bronze claw feet. It is topped with its original breccia marble slab, molded with a corbel-shaped edge, hand-carved on the back. This very elegant piece has been cleaned and French polished in our workshop, adhering to the highest standards of craftsmanship. The veneers are on fir and the backs are oak. The hardware has been cleaned and is original, and the locks are functional. The dimensions given are to the marble slab.
