Large Covered Bohemian Crystal Drageur, Late 19th Century.
Large Bohemian crystal-covered drageur, late 19th century
Important Bohemian crystal covered drageur, dating from the late 19th century, of remarkable elegance and beautiful presence.
This piece is distinguished by the quality of its cut crystal, combining diamond-point cut work on the lower part with rich acid-etched decoration featuring grape clusters and vine foliage, standing out in reserve against a slightly amber background.
The contrast between the transparency of the cut crystal and the softness of the satin-finish decoration creates a particularly refined and luminous visual effect.
The perfectly proportioned lid is topped by a tall, slender faceted socket, typical of quality Bohemian production. The base, also carved, ensures stability and balance to the whole while echoing the decorative vocabulary of the piece.
Very beautiful display or centerpiece, emblematic of the expertise of Bohemian crystal makers at the end of the 19th century.
