Solid Silver Salad and Leg of Lamb Serving Set – Napoleon III Period – 19th Century

An elegant set of serving cutlery from the Napoleon III period, presented in its original case lined and adorned with a gilded frieze.

The set consists of four pieces: two salad servers, as well as a leg-of-lamb knife and fork.

The handles, which are particularly intricately crafted, feature a rich relief decoration of foliage, scrolls, palmettes, and stylized motifs, characteristic of the ornamental taste of the second half of the 19th century.

The mountings are made of solid silver and bear the Minerve 1st title hallmark, guaranteeing a fineness of 950 parts per thousand.

The leg-of-lamb fork is particularly interesting for its ingenious mechanism and its carved animal motif, which adds a great deal of character to the set.

The salad servers have ivory-colored tips, displaying a pleasant antique patina. The set is preserved in its beautiful original case lined with red velvet.

A very fine 19th-century French tableware set, both decorative and representative of the refinement of tableware arts during the Second Empire.
