1930s French Art Deco Pendant Light, Frosted Moulded Glass Skyscraper Globe

French Art Deco pendant light dating from the 1930s. White frosted moulded glass globe with brass fittings, cap and ceiling canopy. It can be refitted relatively easily with a short chain to allow precise adjustment of the hanging height.

The globe has the distinctive “skyscraper” shape, directly inspired by New York’s stepped buildings: three stacked tiers, sharply defined chevron edges, an upper shoulder decorated with radiating fans in low relief, and a diamond-point base. One of the most sought-after silhouettes in the Art Deco repertoire, and one of the most striking when illuminated: the satin-finished glass diffuses soft, glare-free light, while the raised details emerge in subtle gradations of tone.

Original fittings: brass gallery with a golden patina, secured by three side screws, a knurled brass nut on the stem, and a white Bakelite socket cover.

In full working order and ready to install. Standard B22 bayonet socket.
An instantly recognisable 1930s design, relatively rare in this compact size and with this quality of moulding. Beautiful diffusion of soft white light: ideal for an entrance hall, corridor, stairwell or study nook, or in a row of two or three above a kitchen island or counter.

Condition: Very good, with no chips or cracks noted on the globe. No remedial work required.
