Carved from a single block, this work preserves the expressive power of the stone while demonstrating great mastery of form. The polishing reveals the depth of the slate’s dark tones and brings out subtle reflections that enliven the surface as the light shifts.

The form, both understated and dynamic, evokes a gradual ascent, in keeping with its title, Victory. The taut lines and the balance of the volume reinforce this impression of contained momentum. The contrast between the polished surfaces and the top left in its raw state recalls the stone’s mineral origin. Retaining the natural gray color of slate, this unworked section establishes a subtle dialogue between the sculptor’s intervention and the original material.

Through the simplicity of its composition and the quality of its execution, this sculpture combines power and elegance.
