This piece presents an atrophied body, stripped down to the essentials: no head, arms, or feet, yet an intact presence. Far from suggesting incompleteness, this deliberate absence and fragmentation focus the eye on the internal dynamics of the forms, revealing the expressive power of a battered anatomy.

The posture, marked by a subtle twist, creates a diagonal movement that brings the torso to life. The treatment of the material favors a raw approach, leaving traces of the initial modeling visible on the surface. This irregular texture catches the light beautifully, with reflections that reveal the work’s sensuous, fleshy forms.

Through this intimate scale, the artist suggests the vulnerability of the flesh while revealing the intensity of an inner strength.


Susse Foundry

Founded in Paris in 1758, the Susse foundry is the oldest art foundry in France still in operation. Renowned worldwide for its technical excellence and the exquisite quality of its patinas, the firm has accompanied the evolution of sculpture through the centuries.
