A Closer Look at the Work ®

This mixed-media piece on paper reveals a rigorously constructed composition—a direct legacy of Albert Bitran’s training as an architect. The work is organized around a dense central core from which oblique, fragmented forms radiate, evoking an almost architectural structure.
The collage element—kraft paper—introduces a fibrous, organic texture that interacts with the layers of acrylic paint. Through the use of réserve (1) and épargne (2)—techniques involving the deliberate omission of paint—Bitran allows the underlying material to show through, creating depth and surface variation without overcrowding the composition.

Dominant diagonals infuse the piece with dynamic energy, while a palette of ochres and blacks provides balanced spatial structure. Lighter areas introduce a sense of breathing space and light amidst the darker masses.
