Closer Look at the Work ®:
This piece belongs firmly to the realm of lyrical abstraction, where the gesture takes precedence. The composition is dominated by broad, highly dynamic, and almost calligraphic black brushstrokes.
They structure the space and convey a sense of rapid movement, like gestures captured in the moment. These black forms contrast sharply with warmer areas.
The palette, centered on earthy tones—ochres, browns, and oranges—is enlivened by a red focal point. This element draws the eye and heightens the visual impact. Colors overlap and blend, bearing witness to a spontaneous, gestural approach. An almost physical, palpable energy radiates from the work. The forms seem to intersect and respond to one another in a unified movement.
The paint itself appears alive, in a state of constant transformation. A fertile tension arises between control and abandon.
The composition evokes an abstract choreography, composed of impulses (rapid, energetic gestures) and moments of breath (visual pauses and calmer areas)—a pictorial dance, a true celebration of the gesture.
Public Collections:
Miotte’s works are held in numerous museums in France—including the Musée d’Art Moderne in Paris, the Bibliothèque Nationale, and museums in Dunkirk and Saint-Omer—as well as abroad, in cities such as Cologne, Berlin, Rio de Janeiro, and Singapore. He established his own foundation in 2002; it is currently based in Fribourg.
Conservation Framing:
The work has been framed using materials designed for long-term preservation.
It features protection against dust and moisture through a carefully sealed mounting, as well as specialized
anti-UV glass that helps preserve the colors over time.
The pH-neutral, acid-free mat is suitable for the artwork's conservation.
This framing ensures lasting protection while respecting the piece's presentation and integrity.
