Silver And Vermeil Ciborium – Martin & Dejean – Paris, 1837–1846
Description
Elegant solid silver ciborium in the neoclassical style, resting on a wide circular base adorned with a rich engraved design featuring Eucharistic symbols, ears of wheat, grapevines, and floral motifs, which are repeated on the baluster-style shaft and the lid. The lid is topped with an openwork cross. The interior of the cup is gilded.
Hallmarks of the Parisian silversmiths Martin & Dejean, who worked together between 1837 and 1846, as well as visible hallmark marks.

Condition
Good overall condition considering its age. Minor deformities and traces of an old solder joint near the cross, visible in the photographs.
Comes with its cream-colored silk ciborium cover, embroidered with ears of wheat, showing signs of age.
