Authentic theque-type reliquary , in silver-plated metal with pearled border and chased decoration.
Description
In the center, relic presented on a radiant gilded and polychrome background, with legible handwritten cartouche "S. Franc.Sales E.D", for Sanctus Salesius Episcopus, i.e. Saint François de Sales, bishop.
Reverse retaining its original mounting with fastening threads, metal tabs and red armorial wax seal, guaranteeing the ancient integrity of the reliquary. Old handwritten numbering on reverse: 9859.
Saint François de Sales, Bishop of Geneva and Doctor of the Church, was a great spiritual figure of the Counter-Reformation, particularly venerated for his writings and gentle pastoral care.
Condition:
Usage wear, oxidation, old patina; stamp well present, coherent and unopened set.
