19th-century Openwork Folding Casket Box
This lovely reliquary-shaped box is made of gilded brass and translucent plique-à-jour enamel, in the Neo-Gothic style that was popular during the Romantic era between 1820 and 1850.
The rosette decoration on all sides, including the bottom, stands out against an interior background of translucent enamel with colored bands that create the effect of openwork applied to each motif as seen from the outside.
The top is adorned with a finial decorated with pinnacles, the openwork of which is also in enamel.
Hinged lid.
Minor chips and slight warping on the finial elements.
The enamel is in excellent condition!
