Walnut Burl Jewelry Box Decorated With Floral Marquetry And A Domed Pediment
Jewelry or sewing box with a curved (domed) front, veneered with burl walnut in a butterfly-wing pattern. The lid features a frame of filigree wood and a band of inlay. In the center is a rich bouquet in marquetry of various woods, some of which are stained, featuring cherries, roses, poppies, and a bird. The interior is lined with light blue satin, accented with twisted trim. The lock is functional, and the original key is included. The box rests on glide feet.
Good condition for its age, with a beautiful period patina.
