Dorze Calabash, Ethiopia

This calabash is characteristic of Dorze culture from the South of Ethiopia.
Its upper part is adorned with fine engraved geometric patterns. The delicate plant-based stitches running along the object bear witness to its numerous restorations.
Among the Dorze, it was primarily used to share beer during times of social gathering and celebration. Its leather strap allowed it to be hung on the interior walls of homes.
