Beautiful Armchair—from Provence Or The Rhône Valley—made Of Walnut, Regency Or Early Louis XV Style
Well-constructed from solid walnut and very sturdy, this elegant armchair exhibits all the characteristics of a piece from the Regency period or the very early Louis XV period, with its strongly shouldered, scalloped backrest, its dynamic yet perfectly symmetrical waistband, and its curved legs ending in a volute turned not outward, as is customary, but inward toward the seat.
The decoration, too—consisting of simple molding but, above all, two shell-shaped cartouches on the front crossbar and a highly refined foliage-adorned clasp at the top of the backrest—only serves to confirm both the date and the quality of the piece.
Its low seat and sloping backrest, upholstered in cream and green chiseled velvet, make it very comfortable.
In very good condition, both the wood and the upholstery. All that’s left is to bring this bergère home!
Standard restorations and past maintenance, particularly on the foot tips.
Dimensions: height: 85 cm; width: 68 cm; depth: 70 cm; seat height: 39 cm.
