Pair Of Period Louis XV Cabriolet Armchairs In Simply Molded White-lacquered Wood
A pair of charming Louis XV-era cabriolet armchairs in simply molded white-lacquered wood.
The whip-shaped armrests, the belt, and the fluted legs—the entire piece, of high quality, is reminiscent in its elegant simplicity of certain chairs by Delanois, just before his transition to the Louis XVI style.
They are upholstered with checkered fabric (cushions), making them very comfortable. The fabric is by David Hicks (perhaps in need of a refresh, though the upholstery is still in very good condition); can be found, along with the two armchairs, in a room decorated by Christian Badin, architect and interior designer for David Hicks France, featured in a book by Daphné de Saint-Sauveur: Charming Interiors in France, a collection of the best spreads from the interior design magazine, which unfortunately no longer exists: Maison & Jardin.
Good overall condition. Standard restoration.
