Louis XV-era mirror signed "Billon à Senlis" – 18th century

Important Louis XV-era tabletop clock, featuring a sculpted case in rosewood and violetwood veneer, richly adorned with finely chiseled and gilded bronze fittings.

The upper section, crowned by an openwork dome, is topped by a female figure seated on a crescent moon, likely an allegory of Diana. The front, framed by foliage, rests on four rocaille feet. Its lower section features a remarkable trophy composed of a winged mask, a lyre, and crossed scythes, evoking Time.

The enamel dial, composed of several cartouches, displays the hours in Roman numerals and the minutes in Arabic numerals. It bears the signature “Billon à Senlis” and retains its elegant openwork hands made of gilded bronze.

Mechanical movement with key winding and bell chime. The back plate is engraved “Thuret à Paris.” The balance wheel and key are present.

The chime functions correctly. However, the clock’s movement is currently jammed and requires servicing and restarting by a clockmaker.

In good overall condition considering its age. Some cracks and lifting of the veneer, wear on the gilding, minor imperfections, and previous restorations visible in the photographs.
