Cartel and its Louis XV console called "Martin varnish" Veneered and painted wood.
Its violin-shaped oak case, decorated with polychrome flowers on a green background, is stamped J Jollain.
Its base, in oak veneered with fruitwood, decorated with musical instruments and flowers also on a green background also bears the stamp of J Jollain. Its dial with thirteen enamel plates bears the mark “Ns POTIER A LANGRES”.
The whole is decorated with foliated bronzes, largely chased and gilded.

Second half of the 18th century.
The wire movement is in perfect condition restored by our watchmaker.

State of conservation: Very good condition

Related work: Christie's on May 31, 2015 A red polychrome cartel. Provenance: Sale of the sale of the collection of Eugenia Woodward Hitt Collection. And previously 1959 Georges de Batz collection, New York. The movement is by Jean Baptise Baillon. The dimensions, shape and bronze ornaments are very similar.

Adrien Jérôme Jollain, received Master cabinetmaker in Paris on August 1, 1763-1788, belonged to a family of watchmakers and worked especially for them to whom he sold boxes of clocks. It was established in the cloister of Saint John of Lateran. A cabinet secretary stamped with the cabinetmaker is present at the Magnin Museum in Dijon. Inventory number 1938MOB8. Jollain worked in particular with Jean Louis Bouchet Watchmaker to the King for the Château de Bellevue. We find his cabinetmaking works associated with watchmakers such as: Jacques Baudin, Jean Furcy le Roux
