Beautiful Zhangzhou or Swatow bowl of the late sixteenth or early seventeenth century, made during the late Ming dynasty under the Wanli Emperor. Very freely painted with peonies and fish scales on the inside and motifs of calligraphy on the outside.
Very good condition for the age and beautiful craquelure, some small firing imperfections in the glaze and a few small chips to the base.
