A high-quality miniature depicting a lady wearing a feathered hat, painted by Jan Hendrik Matthijsen. Born in The Hague in 1777, Matthijsen served as a valet in the household of King Louis-Napoléon. After the return of the House of Orange-Nassau, he settled in Leeuwarden in 1812, where he created portraits, miniatures, and silhouettes.
A few small areas where paint is missing; otherwise in good condition considering its age.
