Slightly domed rectangular plaque, in polychrome enamel highlighted with late 17th century gold. In an oval medallion with a black background, the Virgin Mary is shown in prayer, eyes raised towards heaven, with clouds underneath her. Beautiful sensitive modelling of the face. Other versions of this composition are signed with monogram “IL”, referring to Jacques Laudin the Elder of Jacques Laudin the Younger, generally attributed to Jacques Laudin II (c.1663–1729).
Good condition, some minor usual damages to the enamelling and integral frame.
