Trompe l’oeil of a “drawing” on a wooden background
Pencil, watercolour, 126 x 101 mm
Provenance: private collection, The Netherlands
*
An amusing trompe l’oeil “drawing” of a mother and child talking to a man in a landscape, illusionistically “mounted” with red lacquer on a background of wooden planks. The sheet seems to date from around 1780-1800 and could have been made either in France, Germany or Holland, presumably in France. Very charming drawing in good condition.
