18th-century Painted Cabinet From Uzès, Decorated With Landscapes And Bouquets

A beautiful painted cabinet from Uzès dating from the 18th century, featuring the polychrome decoration so characteristic of this Provençal furniture.

It features two fully painted doors, divided into panels adorned with bouquets of flowers in vases, foliage scrolls, arabesques, and leaf motifs. Two oval medallions feature charming landscapes animated by waterfront architecture, rendered in deep tones.

The top rail is particularly decorative, featuring birds, floral garlands, and a radiant mascaron. Birds, foliage, and small symbolic motifs are also found throughout the front, notably a heart painted on the bottom rail.

The sides, which are more understated, retain their painted geometric decoration.

The interior, which is also painted, features built-in shelving and two small original drawers, themselves decorated with foliage motifs.
