20th-century Neo-art Deco-style Desk Made Of Macassar Ebony And Sycamore

A superb mid-20th-century contemporary design desk featuring artistic cabinetmaking of a quality rarely seen. This piece features a highly elegant graphic contrast between the deep, dark grain of Macassar ebony and the luminous lightness of sycamore.

The main tabletop is adorned on its left side with delicate geometric inlaid marquetry, and the entire piece is supported by a curved base with clean lines, enhanced by a fine ebony trim that elegantly highlights the curve of each leg.

The minimalist front conceals two waist-level drawers with no visible handles; they are operated via a hidden mechanism located beneath, allowing them to slide with perfect fluidity.

The attention to detail in the interior is evident in the traditional dovetail joints and the impeccably clean-cut solid light wood panels.

The desk is topped by a removable shelf that serves as a small side table. This freestanding unit, also veneered in Macassar ebony, opens via two sliding curtains with sycamore slats that retract into the body of the piece, complemented by a symmetrical side compartment forming a small storage shelf.

Featuring a full-surface finish with a back entirely veneered in Macassar ebony, this desk is designed to be placed freely in the center of a room. The piece is in very good overall condition with superficial and discreet signs of use.
