Large Accolay Ceramic Pitcher With Geometric Incised Design—in Perfect Condition
An important and rare ceramic pitcher from the famous Accolay factory, dating from the modernist period of the 1950s–1960s.
This sculptural piece stands out for its generous dimensions and remarkable textural work. The square-section ceramic body features a nuanced beige and brown glaze with a speckled effect, over which a rich incised decoration unfolds. The geometric and abstract motifs, hand-incised into the clay, lend the object a graphic and architectural aesthetic representative of the Modernist and Brutalist movements of the mid-to-late 20th century.
The signed base bears an incised handwritten “Accolay” signature, the studio’s monogram, and the form letters and numbers.
In very good condition. This collector’s piece is in perfect original condition. No cracks, chips, or pitting.
