Sculpture of a head of a young Malagasy girl signed by the sculptor Haja Rakotomanampy and dated 1957 entitled Betsimizaraka, in heavy blackened exotic wood with a smooth and shiny finish.
His features are youthful with an expression of fullness and his determined gaze has a lot of presence.


Betsimizaraka or Betsimisaraka: The many who do not separate and designates a Malagasy ethnic group which occupies the eastern coastal part of the island, in the region of Tamatave which extends from Sambava in the North to Mananjari in the South and over a hundred km deep, delimited by a mountain range culminating at 2200m.
This people is mainly sedentary, living from agriculture and fishing, historically renowned for its great sense of hospitality and significant interbreeding because it is not opposed to marital unions with people of other cultures.
