Charles Joseph Kuwasseg is the central figure of a family dynasty of painters. His brothers, Josef Kuwasseg and Leopold Kuwasseg, were both painters and lithographers. The two children from his marriage to Marie-Victoire Lebrun also followed the family tradition. His son, the landscape painter Charles Euphrasie Kuwasseg, is the best-known representative of the lineage. His daughter, Eugénie Augustine Rosa Kuwasseg (1837), was also active as a painter
