Mauro Manetti is an Italian foundry artist and sculptor known for his decorative and functional art objects from the 1950s to the 1970s, crafted from silver- or gold-plated tin castings.
His art foundry was located in Florence (Fonderia D’arte Firenze). After earning a degree in architecture from the University of Florence in 1970, he began his career working for design firms and furniture manufacturers in Italy. He then founded his own design studio in 1977,
and has won numerous prestigious awards for his designs, including the Compasso d’Oro in 1987 and 1994.
His works are on display in museums around the world, such as the MoMA in New York, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Mauro Manetti is considered one of the most important Italian designers of his generation, with an innovative and creative approach to design that has influenced many professionals in the field.
