Pair Of Italian Ceccarelli Majolica Harlequin Figurines, Early 20th Century

Artist: Ceccarelli
An important pair of harlequin figurines FROM THE COMMEDIA DELL’ARTE in early 20th-century Italian majolica, by CECCARELLI on pedestals, depicting a man and a woman, each wearing a top hat, striped pants, and a red shirt.

Majolica-style earthenware, on pedestals. Each figurine, composed of two parts, depicts a buffoon and a female buffoon, in a style reminiscent of Maures’ sculptures.

Dressed in matching red, black, and yellow costumes, they are depicted dancing in opposite positions, with their heads tilted and arms raised.

Each figurine rests on a removable fluted pedestal, adorned with hanging green and orange fruits at the corners. Signed “Ceccarelli” on the base.

Approximate height: 145 cm (55.25 inches) for each figurine, 106 cm (41.75 inches) for the character, and 39 cm (15.25 inches) for the base.

Width: 66 cm (26 inches), depth: 76 cm (30 inches).

With an eccentric design that’s sure to turn heads, these magnificent decorative pieces will look right at home on a veranda or in a winter garden… Sold as a set of 2
