Important Tankard With A Silver-plated Metal Lid And A Gold-plated Interior, Made In Europe
An elegant goblet with a lid, crafted from silver-plated metal with a finely gilded interior, attributable to high-quality European craftsmanship, likely German or English (Sheffield), dating to the last quarter of the 19th century, circa 1880–1900. The entire surface is decorated in high relief with elegant allegorical figures, cherubs, garlands, and ornamental motifs in the Neo-Renaissance style, inspired by the famous models of European Renaissance goldsmithing. The richly modeled handle, the contoured spout, the hinged lid with a figurative medallion, and the interior gilding attest to high-quality craftsmanship intended for a prestigious client. The base bears unidentified maker’s marks, consistent with European production from the second half of the 19th century. A splendid object of striking decorative impact and great collector’s interest, preserved in excellent condition.
