Curious Japonist Wine Tasting Cup, Silver Minerva Late 19th Century
Nice circular silver wine taster, Minerva hallmark, handle with two snakes, silversmith's hallmark, difficult to read, is lost in their scales. Underside is plain. But the interior is heavily inhabited by various animals in a curious mixture reminiscent of Braquemond's drawings, inspired by Japan. Squirrel, sparrow, hare, dog, dragonfly are engraved on centre, border being populated by 2 endless snakes, 2 fish, 2 eels and one frog.
