"Rich Elms Dish, Engraved Brass, Nuremberg 16th Century"
Large dish: (43cm!) brass with hemmed edge, tool embossed, it presents a central umbilicus with rotating rosette and foliage in high relief, on a basin engraved of a prayer in a crown, in beautiful, fairly legible Gothic letters on matte background. Wing is decorated with 2 punches: leaf and Blessing bucket motifs. On back, never cleaned, one suspension ring was solderedduring 19th century. All the documentation gives the origin of this dish to southern Germany, Nuremberg, 16th century, whose specialty it was.
Good general condition, small hole for attachment, and a slightly marked edge in places.
