Paul Bofils, 1868–1949, was a French painter and lithographer known for his portraits, landscapes, still lifes, and cityscapes. Orientalist. Born in Saint-Nazaire, he studied under Alphonse Lamotte and Émile Décanis at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He settled in Le Havre, where he exhibited his work and is known to have lived at two addresses: 32 Rue Fontenelle and 21 Rue du Champ-de-Foire. Influenced by Post-Impressionism, he was a member of the Société des Artistes Indépendants and exhibited in Paris at the Grand Palais on the Champs-Élysées from 1911 to 1914. He also worked as an illustrator for *L’Illustration* and *Le Rire*. He was awarded the Legion of Honor in 1932. He died on September 26, 1949, in Le Havre. The artist is listed in the Musée d’Orsay database and is valued by Artprice, Artnet, etc...

This painting, securely stretched on its original stretcher, is in good condition but has two minor imperfections at the very top, barely visible from the front and secured on the back (see close-up photos).
The painting, which has never been cleaned and is slightly soiled, is in very good original condition.
