18th-century Silver Officer's Sword

A beautiful court sword attributable to the King’s workshop based on its decoration and quality.

Chiseled and pierced silver mount, decorated with trophies of arms; the curved crossguard is pierced in the center to reveal a cartouche featuring a trophy of arms; the pommel is decorated in the same style and also bears the coat of arms of France.
The tang is covered with silver wires and strips.

Triangular blade with remnants of its gilded bluing; length 82 cm.

Scabbard with three polished iron fittings and covered with paper imitating shagreen.
(The pommel fits just barely.)
