Rare 17th Century Steeple Or Building Cage Clock
Rare edifice or steeple cage clock circa 1680.
Models prior to the 18th century are easily recognizable by the longitudinal positioning of the wooden winches, and are very rare.
Wrought iron cage, which was transformed over time as was routinely done.
These clocks were not designed to drive a dial, but only a bell, so the necessary adaptations had to be made to convert a dial. These adaptations are the brass parts visible in the photos.
As is often the case, the pendulum is missing, but the movement works by winding the weight, by hand.
Also missing are the crank and a weight.
With the wooden stand, the dimensions are: 90cm by 60cm by 1m80.
