Daisho Of Mounts Consisting Of Two Wakizashi
Daisho (dagger) with two wakizashi (swords), the blade of the larger one certainly not being the original.
This may have been done for ceremonial purposes or for a merchant who was not allowed to carry a large blade.
The two saya (scabbard) are in brown-green lacquer of the Kawari Nuri type, one 69 cm and the other 49 cm.
The two handles have black lacing (the larger one is damaged, restored, and re-lacing is possible if you want)).
The fuchi (sword guards) are decorated with dragon motifs.
One menuki (handguard) has been replaced, likely lost where the lacing was damaged. T
he two tsuba (handguards) are of the Mokko Gata type, in gilt and silvered bronze with dragon decoration. The smaller one is 58 mm x 63.5 mm, the larger one 60.5 mm x 67 mm.
The kogatana (knife) has a signed kozuka (sword) decorated with a crab motif.
Blades: Small, Nagasa (sword) 31 cm, HA ZUKURI shape, MARU MUNE (round) back, O KISSAKI (long) point.
Hardening line barely visible, straight ITO SUGU HA, presence of a KOHI HI (groove)
. The tang has been recut, which surely proves the reuse of a larger, reshaped blade.
Large, Nagasa of 54.5 cm, SAKI ZORI curve, OTOSHI ZUKURI shape.
CHU KISSAKI (medium) point, KAMU MUNE (2 sides) back. Tang surely recut.
Blade face: JIGANE of 16.6 mm, SHINOGI of 8.5 mm.
TORAN HA hardening line visible.
