18th-century Polychrome Wooden Statue

Polychrome wooden statue of a saint or pilgrim. 18th-century German school. Standing with his hips very slightly turned outward, this figure appears to be looking down at the ground. His mouth is open as if he were overcome with fear. His long hair falls over his shoulders, and he has a forked beard. He is clad in a cape draped over his shoulders, fastened with a circular brooch or button. His tunic is slightly open and pleated, cinched at the waist with a belt. Two strips of fabric emerge from the folds of the tunic (manipules?). He wears high-top shoes fastened with sturdy laces. Note:
missing hand
missing fingers
a slight crack
paint chipped in places
