16th–17th-century Column-shaped Candlestick
A column-style candlestick is so named because it rests on a circular base. It features a circular hole for removing candle stubs. These household items were cast and turned on a lathe. They consist of two parts: the shaft and the base. The shaft is set into the base and then cold-forged to make them inseparable. This candlestick is stable and shows no signs of warping. A slight blemish is visible around the edge of the base.
