17th-century Lead Medal
Artist: Claude Warin
A lead medal depicting a profile bust of Scipio Africanus. This medal was engraved by Claude Warin (1607–1654), an artist from Lyon who worked as a sculptor, engraver, and medalist. The Lyon Museum of Fine Arts holds a similar specimen. Our medal was likely exposed to the elements and has a fine crack at the bottom of the bust.
