Pair Of 17th-century Andirons Known As “marmouset”
A pair of Louis XIV-era andirons. They consist of a wrought-iron frame, with the two front legs shaped like volutes. Attached to this frame is a decorative bronze element depicting a woman’s bust, surmounted by two spinning tops. There is a restoration, visible in one of the photos, where one of the legs was re-welded, as it must have become loose at some point. This pair of andirons is perfectly stable and functional.
